Profile: Miss Nadia

Miss Nadia is a wonderful asset to our teaching staff having joined the team in 2023. Over the last few months she has guided her pupils through their BATD exams, achieving a 100% pass rate, and choreographed some fantastic show dances.

Here's a little bit more about her.

"I've been committed to Highland Dance for the past nineteen years - fourteen of which I’ve been fortunate enough to compete at the highest grade - premier/championship - at various competitions and championships up and down the country (including a few Worlds, and the Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival representing Ayrshire). I’ve also been lucky enough to be a part of the Glasgow Tattoo Highland Dance team in 2017 at the OVO Hydro.

I've been teaching under the guidance of former World Champion Helen Fitzpatrick Haddow since the age of seventeen, who was also my mentor throughout my competitive career, and whose guidance allowed me to achieve the Highly Commended grade in all my BATD exams - including my professional teaching (members) examination in November 2022.

Highland Dancing has enabled me to be unashamedly proud of my Scottish Heritage in an incredibly unique way through the expression of this archaic dance style. I am passionate about the history and strength of Highland Dancing and extending that knowledge through generations is an empowering, challenging, educational tool for young people, which I am so thankful to be a part of".
